Skyconnect is an electronic project that allow you to control Skywatcher telescope mounts throught wifi , bluetooth or RS485. It also can be used to control the shutter of a DSLR camera.
It has been very well tested on an EQ5 GOTO mount. It's a DIY project that require soldering skills, i can't be responsible if you damage your equipments with it. Do it at your own risk
For EQ5 mount connect the Skyconnect board to the Rj12 connector of the Hand controller. It allows you to control the shutter of a DSLR camera throught the handcontroller (see the EQ5 GOTO manual). To control your mount from a PC, set the hand controller to PC direct mode
You can also replace the hand controller by connecting the board directly into the RJ45 connector of the synscan box. Just unplug the hand controller and plug skyconnect instead, then Use Synscan pro APP, Stellarium or SkySafari
SET-UP:
-Shutdown temporarely your home WIFI.
-Disable 4G/5G data of your smartphone
-Enable WIFI , you shoud see DoitWiFi_xxxx.
-Open your Browser at 192.168.4.1 (it's the built in web server)
-In serial menu :baud rate:9600, databits:8, parity: none, stopbits:1, serial split timeout : 200. Click save.
-In network Menu :configure the module in UDPserver on port 11880. Save
-In More menu , select Restart ,the module should restart , then reconnect to it .
To use it with Syncscan pro APP: In Synscanpro menu, Try a timeout serial link between 200 and 400ms To use it with stellarium, with your smartphone or tablet, start Synscanpro before then start stellarium
If you want to use it in bluetooth just replace to DT-06 WIFI module by a HC-06 BLUETOOTH module . Be aware of the polarity, check the schematic
If you want to use it with a RS485 link (the wire cable could be more than 500 meters long) you will need a USB to RS485 adapter. Use a 2 twisted pairs cable and dont forget to connect GND both side (use the minus pin of the 12v header) to be sure about the position of the switch SW1.
