A debian package for Zeal would be handy, the creation of it should be pretty similar to the Ubuntu packages you already make. I tried building it myself but got bogged down in dependencies I couldn't easily resolve.

Alternately a full list of packages needed to install before attempting to build could solve my problem.

Have you tried installing all packages listed in https://github.com/jkozera/zeal-debian/blob/debian-debian/debian/control?

turns out qtlocation5-dev and qtsensors5-dev are currently not available in debian testing

Hmm.. Zeal doesn't use those features, so I'd try compiling nevertheless. I think I've added them because WebKit required them, but maybe on Debian it'll work even if they're missing.

I was able to build it despite them being mentioned as dependencies. It runs!!

Thanks, I can confirm that this works in Linux Mint Debian Edition.
Just two notes:

  • This works for this repo jkozera/zeal, not for jkozera/zeal-debian just in case somebody cloned into the wrong one as I did ...
  • Compiling should be finished with sudo make install to get the binary callable with zeal in the shell
Awesome work! A big THANK YOU to Jerzy.
