Toronto Bike Share Web Map

This web map shows the results of two spatial analysis projects on Bike Share Toronto stations and routes (Spatial patterns of seasonal ridership, built environment and social demographics: A taxonomy of Bike Share Toronto stations and Travel speed and routes of the bike-share system: An analysis of Bike Share Toronto), using data from 2021. It allows users to explore the seasonal ridership patterns, built environment and social demographics of different station clusters, as well as the travel speed and routes of the bike-share system.

The data for this web map was obtained from the Bike Share Toronto and the City of Toronto Open Data Portal. The spatial analysis was conducted using R. The web map was created using the Leaflet library and OpenStreetMap.

To access the web map, please click on this link. You can zoom in and out, pan around, and click on the station markers or route lines to see more information in pop-ups. You can also toggle between different basemap layers and data layers using the buttons on the top left corner of the map.

This web map provides a visual and interactive way to understand the spatial dynamics of Bike Share Toronto. It reveals how different factors such as seasonality, land use, income, age, and distance affect the ridership and travel behaviour of bike-share users in Toronto.

Created by Zehui Yin with Leaflet and OpenStreetMap.
