I didn't have to do a job interview when I moved to US because I was being transferred to the same company.

What about the interview for the same company in the first place ? Didn't you have one ?

The way I was hired was very different from most engineers at Liferay so I wouldn't use that as an example.

They hooked me up in a bar after an event I spoke. Later on, we had few conversations on Hangouts. A phone call to arrange the final details and that's it. There was no technical interview involved. The whole process took 3 months (I guess) because I was at university at that time and didn't want to quit Globo.
