Active Directory Monitoring

Brian Edwards edited this page Jun 14, 2013 · 1 revision

Active Directory Monitoring is handled by three monitoring templates depending on the version of Active Directory running on the target host.

This is a change from the old ZenPack where there is one template named "Active Directory" overridden in three device-classes

  • Server/Windows/ActiveDirectory/
  • Server/Windows/ActiveDirectory/Active Directory 2008/
  • Server/Windows/ActiveDirectory/Active Directory 2008 R2/

The new ZenPack uses three template names "Active Directory", "Active Directory 2008", and "Active Directory 2008 R2". All of these are defined at Server/Microsoft/Windows. The "Active Directory" template is bound to that device-class at the device level by default. You can use the zDeviceTemplates configuration property to change which device-level template is defined. You should only choose one of the three Active Directory templates, but there is no ability in the Zenoss Platform to enforce that rule. The system should not crash and burn if the user adds more than one Active Directory template to zDevicePlugins.
