FYI, Open Lumi Gateway (OpenLumi) is an open-source gateway/bridge based on OpenWRT operating system also works with zigpy.
Summary: @G1K, @devbis, @kirovilya (from the @diyruz organization on GitHub) have hacked Xiaomi Lumi Gateway MIxx01 Zigbee to WiFi bridges (Xiaomi gateways DGNWG05LM and ZHWG11LM) with an OpenWRT based firmware on its NXP IMX6 SoC and ZiGate firmware on its NXP JN516x chips (JN5168 and JN5169 chip), or you can make use your own DIY hardware.
The OpenLumi OS could be used on a DIY-gateway on ARM-based platforms that support OpenWRT or installed as an alternative firmware on Xiaomi Smart Gateway DGNWG05LM and ZHWG11LM. As I understand this can already be used in bridge-mode with zigpy-zigate with similar functionality to ZiGate WiFi.
They currently only testing this themselves with Zigbee2MQTT project. Again, for the Zigbee part of it, it currently supports using ZiGate Zigbee stack firmware on JN516x ( JN5168 / JN5169 ) SoCs/modules, such as example Ebyte E75-2G4M10S (JN5169 SMD module) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32973411720.html
I believe that this is a very similar concept to how you can use ITead's Sonoff ZBBridge with bellows if you hack its ESP8266 with Tasmota firmware and standard EZSP firmware so that you can use it as a remote coordinator over WiFi via its integrated TCP serial server. For that see -> https://www.digiblur.com/2020/07/how-to-use-sonoff-zigbee-bridge-with.html

They provide an OpenWRT based distro with Home Assistant and ZHA integration component:
