Apple appears to be discouraging developers from writing AppleScript (AppleScriptObjC) apps by removing the corresponding project template from recent Xcode releases (14.3+).
As a result, it may be difficult for developers to access the AppleScript App template, which was available in older versions of Xcode. However, to assist those who are missing this template, I have published it here for download.
- Locate the Xcode app in Finder and right-click on it.
- Select
Show package content
from the context menu. - Navigate to
Contents
>Developer
>Library
>Xcode
>Templates
>Project
>Templates
>macOS
>Other
.- If any of these folders are missing, create them.
- Copy or move the downloaded template to this folder.
- Restart Xcode.
- To verify that the template has been successfully installed, follow these steps in Xcode:
- Click
Xode
>File
>New
>New project...
. - Look for the
Other
section under themacOS
tab and check ifApple Script App
is available.
- Click
Have fun.
