工程能力
- 工程能力只是科研能力的一部分啊
- 工程能力还是得从开源项目的独当一面和推荐信里看出来，一般照着你的cv和ps是读不出来的，大部分都在吹逼。这个就得整个牛逼点的repo到时候扔到教授脸上，或者找个和你工作过的，让他给你写写推荐信，细节写清楚，最好把项目的全部细节都能清楚流利地用英文表达。

- 自己的项目应该很熟悉的吧, 主要还是看你项目有没有做透
- 看谁掌握讨论的主动权，你可以一直引导到你自己想讲的项目, 或者你干脆坦诚地说清楚你到底做了啥，特别熟的是啥
- 绝大部分老师都不会去问细节的，就high level challenge你一下, 主要也是问你论文的project
- 我之前做过商汤的面试官，我感觉学术面主要还是讨论你写的论文, 有的候选人虽然是一作，都是稍微问得深一点点，都不用走细节就能露怯
- 别画大饼, 你要是真的没自信，就有啥说啥, 你自己都不 confidence，老师一听就听得出来
- 一般来说能把研究的 motivation 和 background 都拎得很清楚就很不易了, 实事求是最重要，有些老师可能知道答案还故意问你的。实在不清楚也可以表达希望介绍自己想介绍对的项目吧。

The successful applicant will conduct research with Joachim Gudmundsson, William Umboh, and André van Renssen in the Sydney Algorithms and Computing Theory (SACT) group.
The specific topic will depend on the skills and interests of the student and could include for example computational geometry, network design, routing, trajectory analysis, approximation algorithms, and online algorithms.
The Full Scholarship will provide tuition fees and annual stipend allowance of $27,082 per annum (indexed to the RTP rate) for up to three years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The recipient may apply for an extension of up to 6 months.

UCSD Yi-An Ma: I am looking for students to be affiliated with UC San Diego's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department and Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI). My main research interests can be roughly summarized as probabilistic inference methods and their statistical guarantees. This endeavor is central to machine learning and spans fields of computation, statistics, optimization, and applied probability. Some of my recent and ongoing works lie at the intersection between MCMC and optimization. Via bridging MCMC and optimization, we are gaining deeper understanding about their relative advantage in terms of computation budget and have leveraged techniques in optimization to accelerate sampling methods for Bayesian inference.
Interested students are welcome to apply to the UCSD CSE department and check that they would like to be advised by an HDSI faculty. It would be advantageous to come in with a background or strong interest of stochastic processes, dynamical systems and control, and optimization. I would love to talk in more depth if you are interested.
