I'm -1 on this. The table of contents is very useful when you go to the PyPI front page and want to jump to the changelog quickly.

I'd really rather move all the detailed docs to Sphinx, leaving only the overview and the changes on the PyPI page. In the meanwhile, if you'd like to revert that bit of the change, I'd be fine with it.
