This is an App to generate short url for provided long url.
Run ‘rake db:setup` then `rails s` and visit `localhost:3000`
Once the app starts you’re shown the new short url page where you can enter long url and desired short url. Both long_url and short_url should be unique and present. To check if the url is valid, I’ve used ‘net/http, uri` method. It checks 10 times if the generated short_url is already present and creates new one.
If you don’t enter short url then new short url is generated using ‘SecureRandom.urlsafe_base64` method.
Once the short url is created, you can visit the short url and it is redirected to the actual url when visited and each visit is logged with a counter ‘usage_count`.
‘whenever` is used cron job to `prune_stale_records` after 15 days.
