1 validation error for GPT4All #621

same error, need help |
UPDATE: I have no clue why, but when I run this on the terminal of vs code, it works if I press crtl + f5, but not when I use the start button on the top right of the screen. I think it has something to do with debug mode and normal execution? |
It looks like an issue because of the model directory specified by the

@xgtechshow can you show your .env file? the |

@xgtechshow can you please share what your fix was? |
@RuddiRodriguez |
Hi all, got the same error. then I used this and it fixed the issue: after fixing this issue now I can see that the file found: llm = GPT4All(model=model_path, n_ctx=1000, backend="gptj", verbose=False) then new validation error so i figure the API changed and n_ctx=1000 is invalid - i just removed it and it working. |
Hi All, Once model path correctly mentioned in .env file and remove the extra argument(as per API) n_ctx=1000, Its working as expected. |
Downgrading some packages could help if none of the above actions solve the issue. |
Hi All it is able to find model but cant instantiate it |
i tried by using other model too facing same issue |
I hit into the same error and googling and reading the reported issue, I deduce as what some other have mentioned here, the path to the gpt4all is likely not loaded. Tried a few things and in the end, I manually added the .env directly into privategpt.py like this embeddings_model_name = "all-MiniLM-L6-v2" # os.environ.get("EMBEDDINGS_MODEL_NAME") model_type = "GPT4All" #os.environ.get('MODEL_TYPE') It works for me by adding the variables directly into the privategpt.py file, but I hit into some other different issue which I am debugging. |
According to the error message, it seems that the script was able to find the model file at "models/ggml-gpt4all-j-v1.3-groovy.bin," but encountered an issue while trying to instantiate the model. The specific error is "ValidationError: 1 validation error for the root GPT4All - Unable to instantiate the model (type=value_error)." This error could be due to misconfiguration or incorrect parameters when creating the

Found model file at /data/llm/ggml-gpt4all-j-v1.3-groovy/ggml-gpt4all-j-v1.3-groovy.bin how to fix? |
I did some investigation for this problem and commented in GPT4All: nomic-ai/gpt4all#866 (comment) My problems is that my CPU does not support AVX, it took a day for me to find that. Please check if CPU support AVX and AVX2, otherwise nothing will work 😄 |
It appears that the Bin file was designed for an earlier iteration of GPT-4-All and is not compatible with the more recent version. |
@Rj1318 Now there is another issue debuging that. |
Thanks Rj1318. This did the trick for on my intel mac: |
I have a M1 Mac and OSX 12. It still fails with same error msg on privateGPT.py even with proper path on model.
|
should be 'gpt4all==0.2.3' |
This fixed the issue for me. i only had to include 'models/' before the bin file. Thanks a ton! |
Hello Guys my code:
error is in this line here is the error:
Another error appears when I did a slight modification which is changing the Path variable from this here is the error:
the model was working yestarday but suddenly I run the same code today it gived me this errors I don't know why I haven't change anything I am disappointed
|
Hello, Did you fix it? |
Eyad,
Is that a typo error on your model path?
model=r"pathfolder
are you are using variable model twice?
regards,
Max

I had a similar issue when I was trying to embed the data into Chroma in google colab. I opened a new notebook and installed gpt4all and other files, and the same code worked. I think it has to do with the model installation path. |
I am trying to use a .gguf model and I get this error If I use the .bin model, it works. But if I change it to a .gguf model, I get that error. I downloaded the Question: Does gpt4all support a .gguf model? |
Any idea of this error?
