- Quick Setup Guide
For tl;dr people, please follow these instructions before the game starts
To play Hunters Among Speedrunners, you’ll need:
For Modrinth compatible launchers (eg PolyMC, ATLauncher):
- A microphone
- This modpack
For CurseForge compatible launchers (eg GDLauncher, CurseForge launcher):
- Warning: This option will no longer be maintained in future in favour of Modrinth. CurseForge has deliberately broken their API which has made this version of the modpack very difficult to work on and maintain.
- A microphone
- This modpack
For other launchers (eg Minecraft launcher):
- A microphone
- 1.16.5 Fabric client (https://fabricmc.net/use/* )
- Fabric API(https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api*)
- The voice chat mod that your server admin is using (if you’re playing my playtests, this is Plasmo Voice: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/plasmo-voice )
Once you’ve installed everything, put Fabric API and Plasmo Voice into your Minecraft mods folder (For Windows: %AppData%/.minecraft/mods)

Your server administrator will give you the Mumble address during playtesting session
Minecraft Server (address will be given during playtesting)
Once connected to the Minecraft server, some commands you should try:
- /trigger hnr.information (aliases: /info or /information)
- /trigger hnr.stats (aliases: /stats or /status)
- /trigger hnr.spell.cast (aliases: /spell)
- ** Game Rules**
Number of players: Up to 1 hunter per 4 to 5 players, 2 hunters for 6 to 8 players and 3 hunters for 9 or 10 players.
Note about the server: Hunter Among Speedrunners is Minecraft manhunt murder mystery game with proximity chat. Ingame chat will be disabled, so usage of voice chat is crucial. Should you not have a microphone or are unwilling to speak up, be prepared to craft signs to communicate with other players. This will put you at a heavy disadvantage in the game.
Winning criteria: If you are a speedrunner, your goal is to either:
- kill the Ender Dragon or
- kill all hunters.
If you are a hunter, your goal is to
- kill all speedrunners
- Ensure that the Ender Dragon stays alive.
If you are the Jester (can be enabled in settings), your goal is to
- Get killed by another player
Your role is a secret. At all times try to act your best to be a runner.
If the speedrunners complete either goal, any surviving speedrunners win and all hunters lose. If the hunters complete both their goals, any surviving hunters win and all speedrunners lose.
Special conditions:
- If the last two players on opposing teams die at the same time, effort should be made to find out who died last (such as reviewing recorded footage or server logs) and that player will be the winner. If this still cannot be determined, the last Hunter wins by default, unless the Ender Dragon is killed somehow, in which case the last Speedrunner wins by default.
