VCC v2.1.8.1 August/2023
◦ Minor bug fixes.
◦ New versioning system

VCC version numbering in the past has been some what haphazard. In attempt to remedy this we have decided to codify the VCC version numbering scheme as follows: The VCC version number consists of "VCC-" followed by 4 numbers separated by dots, for example: "Vcc-2.1.8.1". The first number represents the "fork." Fork one is considered to be the original code from Joseph Forgeone. The current fork is "2". It promises to function on Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems. We might want to add capabilities that will not work on these older systems. If we do that we will create a third "fork." This will allow us to backport changes from fork 3 code back to fork 2. The second number represents a major version. It will be used if very significant changes are made in the way VCC functions (not likely happen anytime soon). The third number represents normal releases, typically done one or two times per year. The fourth number represents bug fixes to the release. These are changes to VCC that correct errors and bugs in the intended functionality of the release. Binaries containing these changes will be updated in the affected release files.

  • This release includes a major update to the KeyMap editor -EJ Jaquay

You "may" get a warning from your Anti-Virus software but it is a "False Positive" resulting from the inclusion "wimgtool-os9.exe" & "wimgtool-rsdos.exe", which have self-modifying code that throws a warning with some protection software. There are NO viruses in these packages!!!

VCC 2.1.0c

This is an updated release of VCC 2.1.0c in which the missing control key sequences were not being copied to the VCC screen when using the "Edit/Paste Text" feature. The "Paste Text" control key sequences now work correctly.
If you do not want to do a complete reinstall of VCC and only need the update, download the zip file version and extract the "VCC.exe" file into your current VCC installation folder and your update will be complete. Do this ONLY if you installed the VCC 2.1.0c release before the bug fix. Do NOT do this if you are using a previous release other than VCC 2.1.0c, use a complete install instead.

NEW Features for this Edition of VCC:
• New 2nd Hard Drive
We couldn’t let Mame outdo us with 2 hard drives, so we added another one!
• Control CPU speed with &
You can decrease the CPU speed with and increase the CPU speed with F4.
• Key bug fixed
Before, if you attempted to use the combos, certain combos would try to open the VCC menus and cause strange problems. This has been fixed.
• Remember Screen Size
VCC will now remember your current screen size after exiting the program and return it to this size the next time you run VCC. This has been a long awaited enhancement.
• GMC (Game Master Cart)
We added John Linville’s “Game Master Cart” (GMC), which allows ROM based game development with “Syd Chip” type sound and music.
• Border Color Bug Fixed
The wrong border color was displaying in most alternate color sets. This has now been fixed.
• Improved VCC Manual
I have reorganized this manual a little better to make navigation easier. I also added the much requested “Quick Start Guide”.

New Features:
• Copy/Paste
Probably the most requested feature added to VCC. You can now Copy from the VCC screen to the PC clipboard or Paste to the VCC screen from the PC clipboard just as if you typed the data in by hand! (see the “Edit” menu section for details)
• Persistent Filepaths
VCC will now remember all your ROM, DLL, Disk, VHD, Cassette, & Cart/Pak directories individually. No more browsing from one directory to another each time you load a different item. This is a change I personally have wanted for quite a few years! All current filepaths are save to the configuration file and remembered each time you run VCC.
• Custom Config Save/Load
In solving the problem users were having on Windows 8 & above with having to use “Administrator’s Permission” to make VCC properly save the Config file, we broke the ability to have more than one VCC installation with different configurations. The new Save/Load Config menu has been activated allowing you to save custom configurations and load any configuration you want after starting VCC. (See “Menus/File/Save Config” & “Menus/File/Load Config” for details)
• Load Custom Config from Cmd Line
After several requests, we have added the ability to load a custom configuration from the command line in a Windows Command box. (see “Starting VCC” at the end of the previous “Installation” section)
• Flip Artifact Colors
VCC now allows you to “Flip” the artifact colors on the PMODE graphics screens to the alternate color set without interrupting the emulation. Just click “Configuration/Flip Artifact Colors” on the menu bar and the alternate color set will be activated without interrupting your program.
• .Slightly Better Composite Palettes
The composite palettes have been altered to be a little better, but still not correct.
• Improved VCC Manual
I have reorganized this manual a little better to make navigation easier. I also added the much requested “Quick Start Guide”.
