Overview

RunnerUp opens with a four-tab screen. The four tabs on the bottom are:

Activity Screen

The Start or Activity screen of RunnerUp has three modes on top to choose from:

  • Basic - Used for tracking basic running sessions with still being able to use laps.
  • Interval - Used to manage simple interval training session profiles.
  • Advanced - Used to manage advanced training session profiles.
  • Manual Workouts can be added from Workouts History

Basic

The Basic training session allows you a few settings.

  • Audio cues: use the program Default or 100m. When 100m is selected, you will receive audio cues every 100 metres.
  • Sport: You can select from Running, Biking, Other, Orienteering, and Walking
  • Target: Select None, Pace, or Heartrate zone. Note that the Heartrate option requires you to configure the appropriate device for use with RunnerUp. If you select Pace, then you will also be able to set your target pace.

Interval

The Interval tab allows you to manage a workout with repetitions of action and rest. You can set action and rest independently. Settings include:

  • Audio cues: use the program Default or 100m. When 100m is selected, you will receive audio cues every 100 metres.
  • Repetitions: Set the number of times to repeat the specified action/rest interval.
  • Interval type: Select either a time-based or distance-based action interval.
  • Rest type: Select either a time-based or distance-based action interval.

Additionally, those trainings always have a warm up and cool down.

Please note that during the rest periods, the distance/time you run in these rest periods is measured, but not stored. So this will not show up in the graph when you finish running. If you want to record your travelled distance/time during these periods, it's better to use the Advanced tab, and add workout, using "recovery" instead of "rest".

Advanced

The Advanced tab offers runners the option of preset workout profiles. Each of these workouts has various settings that can be changed by the user. Note that when you change a workout, its settings are immediately saved.

The following workouts are available by default:

  • 4*4: Mimics the Interval profile
  • 8-6-4-2: This workout by default alternates active periods (in 8-6-4-2 minute periods) with rest periods (2-2-1 minutes). The workout begins with a 10 minute warmup, and a cool down.
  • MalinEwerlov: This workout by default includes several sets of stepped time intervals, beginning with 1:30 duration and ending with :15 duration intervals.
  • Super 1000: This workout by default includes several sets of stepped distance intervals, beginning with 100 metre and working up to 400 metre intervals.

You can create custom workouts, too!

There are some functionality to import/export too. issue #567
