In the English What's New section for version 2015.3, please note the following linguistic errors:

  • In the first New Features entry '• The existence of spelling errors is announced in editable fields for Internet Explorer and other MSHTML controls. (NVDA doesn't report spelling errors in text fields in Internet Explorer #4174) ', 'existence' is misspelled as 'existance'.
Clarification Note: change misspelled 'existance' to 'existence'
  • In the second New Features entry '• Many more Unicode math symbols are now spoken when they appear in text. (Read HTML entities, unicode characters, other symbols #3805) ', the initial 'u' in 'unicode' should be actually capitalized as it is a proper noun. Oxford Dictionaries confirms.
Clarification Note: capitalize 'u' in proper noun 'unicode'

Hi,
As I proofread NVDA's What's New document a bit more using Microsoft Office's spell checker, I noticed a few more linguistic errors, sorry for not having included them in the description itself...

  • In the entry '• When focus moves to a new itemn in tree views in the Eclipse IDE, if the previously focused item is a check box, it is no longer incorrectly announced. (Eclipse: treeviews with checkbox items are beeing read twice (double focus event #4586) ', the first instance of the word has been misspelled as 'itemm'.
Clarification Note: remove the extraneous 'm' in the first occurrence of 'item'
  • For consistency purposes, in the entry '◦ NVDA can also be started with add-ons disabled by using the --disable-addons command line option. ', 'addons' should be spelled as 'add-ons'.
Clarification Note: change 'addons' to 'add-ons' (hyphenated) for consistency
  • In the entry '• In browse mode, pressing e and shift+e to navigate to edit fields now includes editable combo boxes. This includes the search box in the latest versionn of Google Search. (Include editable combo boxes in edit field quick navigation command #4436) ', 'version' is misspelled as 'versionn'.
Clarification Note: remove the extraneous 'n' in 'versionn'
  • In the entry '• In Powerpoint slide shows, the review cursor correctly follows the virtual caret. (Review cursor doesn't follow virtual caret in PowerPoint Slide Show #4370) ', officially, the presentational product of Microsoft's office suite is named 'PowerPoint' and not 'Powerpoint'.
Clarification Note: capitalize the second 'p' for 'Point' for compliance with the official name
I would say that NVDA documentation material requires some proofreading via a good spell checking tool, Microsoft Word's utility itself as well.
    Thanks.

Hi,
A few things (although old versions are not looked at, I need to clarify some entries):

Actually, the entry is correct: it is --disableAddons, otherwise we get --disableAdd-ons, and this doesn't quite fit the overall source code structure and how some programs work when they receive command lines.

Clarification Note: remove the extraneous 'n' in 'versionn'

Agreed. I was thinking about hosting a branch just for documentation reviews. However, as these are old entries, I don't think Mick and Jamie would take these suggestions at this time (if it is 2015.4 entries, then yes, we're willing to do something about this, as we have some time before release is frozen). Note that for some entries, translators will need to modify it somewhat (and I can tell it will affect some languages more than others).
Thanks.

I'm happy to retrospectively accept these changes, minus the --disable-addons change (which is correct as explained above). Whether translators choose to translate them is entirely up to them.
