An Intro to Melody

Melody is an open source, community-driven web content management and publishing platform, based upon the popular Movable Type blogging system. With Melody one can launch a scalable and secure website, enriched by a number of social features quickly and easily. Create anything from a simple blog to a complex website for your business or Enterprise, using tons of plugins created by the community. Plus, using Melody's approachable, easy to learn and read templating language, one can accomplish virtually anything you set your mind to.

Design with Melody

From providing a simple templating language that resembles the one language every designer already knows, HTML, to being able to expose rich user interfaces for managing the unique aspects of a customer's website, Melody is designed to be approachable and easy to learn. Plus, Melody does not require anyone who designs on it to know a programming language. Don't know PHP? That's ok. Don't know Perl? or Ruby? or Python? That is all ok. You don't need to know them. All Melody asks is that you know how to edit a text file. If you can do that, and if you know a little HTML, then you can design for Melody.

Create with Melody

Manage all aspects of a website's content from within Melody. From writing articles and blog posts, to embedding podcasts, videos, images and media of all kinds, Melody makes it easy to create rich and engaging content online. Melody also gives content managers the features they need: revision control, asset management and tracking, flexible roles and access control, and content moderation.

Scale with Melody

Melody utilizes a robust and proven pre-emptive caching framework to publish websites that can withstand huge surges in traffic, and even database outages. Few systems have a greater track record for scaling as easily as Melody and without the need for a lot of expensive hardware and complex software configurations.

Join Melody's Community

Melody has a long list of features, but without a doubt, its most important feature is its community. With its roots in Movable Type, one of the oldest blogging platforms around, Melody has a seasoned and experienced community of devoted and passionate users who are ready to help you. Join us to ask for help or to provide help to others!
