LLM sometimes returns a valid JSON string. In such cases, the original code mistakenly treats the string as a list and outputs it character by character.

This causes an error TypeError: expected string or buffer in the next embedding phase.

Walkthrough

The extract_arguments function in extraction.py has been enhanced to manage cases where the ChatOpenAI response might not be a valid JSON array. The function now verifies if the response is a string and processes it accordingly, ensuring robust handling of different response formats.

Changes

File Path Change Summary
scatter/pipeline/steps/extraction.py Updated extract_arguments to handle non-array JSON responses by converting strings to lists.

Poem

In code where JSON strings may roam,
We fix the bugs, make it feel like home.
Arrays or strings, we handle with care,
Extracting arguments from here to there.
With each new change, our code does sing,
A joyful tune for everything!

    • @coderabbitai modularize this function.
  • PR comments: Tag @coderabbitai in a new PR comment to ask questions about the PR branch. For the best results, please provide a very specific query, as very limited context is provided in this mode. Examples:
    • @coderabbitai generate interesting stats about this repository and render them as a table.
    • @coderabbitai show all the console.log statements in this repository.
    • @coderabbitai read src/utils.ts and generate unit testing code.
    • @coderabbitai read the files in the src/scheduler package and generate a class diagram using mermaid and a README in the markdown format.
    • @coderabbitai help me debug CodeRabbit configuration file.

Note: Be mindful of the bot's finite context window. It's strongly recommended to break down tasks such as reading entire modules into smaller chunks. For a focused discussion, use review comments to chat about specific files and their changes, instead of using the PR comments.

50-56: The changes correctly handle cases where the LLM returns a string instead of a list. However, consider converting the filter object to a list for Python 3 compatibility.

[REFACTOR_SUGGESTion]

- items = filter(None, items) # omit empty strings
+ items = list(filter(None, items)) # omit empty strings
