Hi, I downloaded the recent version and ran the Excel example. I have put the resutling XML in a file. I can load that file with LibreOffcie but Excel 2010 fails. Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry I missed this originally. I will need more to work with. Either post the xml file in question so I can attempt to load it myself, or if this is not possible, please at least post the error that was generated.

Also realize that there are multiple excel XML formats. The ones that I was using is XML spreadsheet format which I believe is described at this link

Ahh I think I realise what you are saying now. The document produced by the simple-excel-test function will not open in Excel 2010. I can see how that might happen. I think that perhaps in recent versions you might need to use the import feature instead of the open feature, but I am not totally sure. I don't have access to recent excel versions as I have moved to linux, but I will try to find what the current protocol for opening these documents is.

I had my PM open the file in excel 2010. On her Win7 computer, double clicking the result .xml file loaded it correctly in excel 2010. On other computers I have had to use the "File" > "Open" dialog and select the XML file directly (because .xml was mapped to a different program). If neither of these are working for you could you please post some more information about what IS happening when you try to open the xml file in excel.

Thanks and cheers

I was the one who brought this issue up. Sorry for not responding in a timely manner. I again tried to open the sample xml file in Excel 2010 an get an error. Excel 2010 does not open the file. Instead a modal dialog is opened and in German (I only have a Excel 2010 in German at hand): "Die Datei '...' kann von Excel nicht geöffnet werden, da das Dateiformat oder die Dateierweiterung ungültig ist. Überprüfen Sie, ob die Datei beschädigt ist und ob die Dateierweiterung dem Dateiformat entspricht." I would translate to: "The file '...' could not be opened because either the file format or the extension is wrong. Please check if the file is damaged or if the file extension matches the file format."

I get the same message when I try to open it in "Excel Online" via OneDrive.
