We have a few places in our code where we convert between net.IP and string back and forth a few times. Same with net.Interface and its name as a string. Also, net.IP implements encoding.TextMarshaler and encoding.TextUnmarshaler, so we can just put them into our JSON structs.

Inspect the data flow and remove that.
