A Note to Users of the Allen Brain Observatory – Visual Coding Data

Since publishing our data, we have found that several experiments exhibit strong, correlated events that resemble interictal events: a potential indicator of epilepsy. Twenty-three experiments in the current data set are affected by this phenomenon, and are indicated in the table below.

As part of our next data release (June 2017) we will add flags to identify these experiments on both the web application and in the Allen SDK, as well as more detailed documentation on how these events are identified.

To avoid collecting more data from animals that exhibit these events, we have implemented a screening process to identify animals that exhibit these events prior to data collection. We are also in the process of recollecting these data sets.
