Notification Improvements
- Notifications have been overhauled (again) and now give more specific messages that are better tied to what you’ve actually viewed.
forum/scan
has been redone so it shows just a summary of posts by board and not every single unread post.- forum/scan is now enabled in onconnect by default. See
help onconnect
to edit your connect commands if you don’t want to see this at login. - New command
job/scan
lets you see how many unread jobs you have. Job admins will probably want to add a job command to their aconnect, eitherjobs/mine
,jobs/unread
, orjobs/scan
.
Please keep in mind that the notifications system is still evolving. You’re welcome to provide feedback on the Ares forums or discord.
Features
- I finally caved and implemented the “dots” view for FS3 skills that everyone seems to prefer. Based on Glitch’s implementation for SpiritLake; some code donated by Glitch.
- Improved locations directory. Areas now have summaries (editable via the portal) that show up on the main page, in addition to their longer descriptions.
- You can now add RP hooks to the chargen welcome message. (suggested by Tat)
Fixes
- Renaming background skills and adding specialties weren’t always getting through to the game in FS3 web chargen. (reported by Auspice)
- Combat setup screen was working on PCs instead of NPCs. (reported by KarmaBum)
- Emits from portal weren’t tagged by nospoof. (reported by Clockwork)
- Learn command was using XP even if it failed due to an invalid skill name. (reported by Tat)
- Specialties were not showing up on FS3 web sheet. (reported by Auspice)
- You couldn’t clear a group via web chargen.
- The web popup windows weren’t using the standard site background color. (reported by Auspice)
- Creating an already-completed scene or changing location in a completed scene was giving an error. (reported by Tat and KittyKat)
- Chargen messages weren’t getting cleared sometimes even after you fixed them and saved.
- Ranks were case-sensitive about their faction names. (reported by KittyKat)
- Joining a scene in the MU client didn’t add the scene to “My Scenes” on the web. (reported by Ren)
Little Things
- Character scene lists now default to the ‘All’ tab. (compromise based on a forum discussion kicked off by a suggestion from Ren)
- Plot pages now sort scenes by IC date order. (suggested by Blu)
