In the past we've done the kind of things you do in wifi-enabler.service in the init.rc, eg: https://github.com/AsteroidOS/meta-dory-hybris/blob/master/recipes-android/android-init/android-init/init.rc#L2
It looks like it should work here too and avoid us having to maintain a device-specific obscure systemd service ?

Great idea, currently this systemd method is used on ray too. I'll check if simply putting these in the init.rc script works too.

This repository has now been merged into a unifying meta-smartwatch repository (https://github.com/AsteroidOS/meta-smartwatch/).

I think we should reconsider the comments made here and reopen a PR in https://github.com/AsteroidOS/meta-smartwatch/pulls if we find the correct solution.
