ENH: Support for Export Current View Colors #731
Comments
Nice idea! |
Great idea, I received this requirement on several occasions already, especially when dealing with MEP systems or rebars. The material color seldomly represents the color actually relevant from the BIM perspective, but filters help visually structure the model. |
We've had this as a requirement for colour coded rooms fairly recently as part of the model requirements in a competition project. What made it even harder in this case was the fact that you can't specify a room colour scheme on export. We ended up having to convert the rooms into DirectShapes and assign materials to them. So my addition to this enhancement request would be to include a drop-down for picking a room colour scheme in the export dialog. |
We will look into this. Note that this isn't really the content that IFC was created for - it is more about classified geometry than color reps. We have to be careful how many extra options we include to a crowded set of options relating to artificial color assignments. |
@AngelVelezSosa Thanks for you comment. I know the possibillity to save the current color is not the direct intent with IFC, but on the other hand we could interprit this feature as a Model View Definition as well as other specific wishes for a Model. Often the demands for IFC (features) on projects is more than openBIM demands for, mostly because the building owner wants something without having the needed insight on openBIM. But still, i think this makes sense :-) |
Enhancement Description
... As a user I would like to be able to export specific Views with the current Colors, being both Element Overrides or View Filter overrides according to their priority. This would enable me to send IFC files with color coding in ie. Rebars showing the diameter of the rebars or other color codings directly to the recipients.
