After reading a post about using an external cron service instead of wp-cron, I asked Ben Lobaugh about the possibility of creating a Jetpack Cron service. He told me that the actually is one in place already and that it's used for the Monitor service.

I think it would be really neat if this could be used by developers as a backup/replacement for wp-cron on sites which are running Jetpack.

Commented on Twitter, but just use WP_Cron, and turn on Manage. Manage will ping your site every five minutes, which will make sure WP_Cron is run regularly.

@wpbacon I tossed together a quick proof of concept on @georgestephanis idea for you. https://github.com/blobaugh/jetpack-ping-action

We chatted this morning and decided that it will not be added into Jetpack Core just yet. You can use that plugin to add a hook to fire on if you want to though :)
