It was using a preliminary version of MSAL (named ADAL experimental) which is no longer supported.

You'll alternative examples using MSAL [here](https://github.com/AzureAD/microsoft-authentication-library-for-dotnet/wiki/MSAL.NET-supports-multiple-application-architectures-and-multiple-platforms#msalnet-is-about-acquiring-tokens-not-protecting-an-api)

If you really wish to view the archived sample, please switch to the [archive](https://github.com/AzureADQuickstarts/appmodelv2-webapp-webapi-openidconnect-dotnet/tree/complete) branch. This code is no longer maintained and functionality is not guaranteed.
