I tried pasting extra space characters to the front of the 2nd or 3rd line of a multiline string. VSCode pasted the characters then Calva-fmt removed them immediately.

I agree. Though I have no clue why this is happening. Calva-fmt generally leaves the contents of strings alone, but when pasting, something is going on...
