FriishProduce Legacy ‐ Creating a WAD

1. Getting a base WAD and ROM

Open FriishProduce and select a target platform.
On the second page (pictured above), click the "+" button (highlighted) and browse for the WAD you're using. If it is supported by the database, then the WAD file will be copied to the bases folder (check Supported Bases for what is available).

Assuming you have already imported a WAD to the bases list, click on the Browse button and search for the ROM/disc image you want to inject.
If you're using a patch, check the checkbox above and likewise browse for the patch file.

2. Banner (optional)

If you want to add a custom banner to your WAD, check the Customize checkbox (highlighted above), and fill in each of the textboxes, then set the year and players settings to the release year and number of players supported by the game respectively.

Additionally:

  • You can automatically fill in the data fields of the title, year and players, as well as get an image, from the LibRetro database with the button at the bottom, depending on whether the ROM is supported (official games are more likely to be included than ROM hacks).
  • If you want to import a banner from another WAD to customize, check the "Edit using a banner from other base" checkbox and search for a base to use (note that you must have more than one WAD supplied in the database for this option to be available).
  • You can also change the image resizing & interpolation mode.

3. Content options & saving

You can adjust other content options for the WAD (such as the WAD's title ID, whether to include the "Operations Guide" option in the HOME Menu, etc.), (highlighted in green) as well as emulator settings where available (highlighted in blue).

Once you're done, click Save (highlighted at the bottom) and enter a filename. Assuming everything goes well, you will now have your injected WAD ready to use.
