With the recent few patches / intended patches it has all been making defending easier.
Also, with Group notifications for entries having no Counter-play except waiting till everyone is offline, which is hard with massive snitch networks with dozens of people added to it, who all live in different time zones.

So, for some there is never a time where someone is not online to see the notification.

Would just like to point out a few more things that rourke left out from my original comment, and some new details:

  • Juke Boxes will start log to the Database even if they have invisibility potion activated. Meaning the owner can still read the Juke and see who entered.
  • It does not prevent notifications of logging-in and logging-out, so if they log out in your range you can still figure out where they did.
  • Potions do not stack, and invisibility potions last, at most, 8 minutes. Which is barely enough time for 3 people to break one diamond reinforced chest, if they have Gold axes Eff III~. So, they will have to bring numerous potions if they want to go undiscovered, which will render their PvP skills a lot less useful if they have less room for strength, speed, healing, regen, and fire res potions.
  • They also aren't the cheapest, granted they aren't expensive either.

I just feel it is necessary to have some counter-play to the notifications, since the only way to remove the notifications is to be in range of one and have it trigger... I feel this is a good compromise, because the intruder will still have to destroy all snitches they passed over for all of the evidence to be gone.
So, this will reward hiding your snitches well.

You could argue selective timing is counter-play to snitch fields, however, with dozens of people on dozens of snitch networks, over multiple time-zones, you can have a whole 24 hours with at least one person on the network always online.
