This is an experimental feature which means that we are meaning to implement and test this. If it works out fine and improves the Sourcetrail product, we will ship it.

Add an option to do a shallow Python indexing step at first that only resolves used symbols by name. If that step is done the user shall be able to browse the data from the shallow step and the deep indexing shall start. Once the deep indexing is done, the user shall be notified and the database shall be overwritten.

The basic feature is implemented and looks really promising. Some UI stuff is still missing.
