Mezzmo Kodi Addon with PVRs
Mezzmo and the Mezzmo Kodi Addon can be integrated with Kodi PVRs in two main fashions depending upon the functionality of the PVR and the desired viewing outcome.
Kodi PVRs come in two main types, those which write to the Kodi DB and those which don't. Most don't write to the Kodi DB and leverage Kodi scraping to find new recorded episodes. In either case, live viewing will typically be done via the Kodi PVR interface and the PVR Guide. Mezzmo doesn't have a PVR guide feature but live viewing can be done in Mezzmo (see below). However, Mezzmo can quickly discover new PVR recordings, add them to Mezzmo and retrieve the metadata.
To make PVR recordings available to your Mezzmo library you need to add the location of your recordings to your Mezzmo library. This is a simple step in the Mezzmo GUI. You can then adjust the discovery / update time in the properties. In this example Mezzmo checks the recordings folder every 3 minutes and will discover new content or make updates (i.e. length of the recording) as the recording continues until completion..
The next question is whether your PVR writes to the Kodi DB. You'll want to doublecheck the Kodi Mezzmo Addon setting for adding TV episodes to the Kodi database. If your PVR is writing to the Kodi DB then you will want to disable the Kodi Mezzmo Addon Add TV Episodes to Kodi DB setting otherwise you will end up with duplicate entries for each recording. It is highly recommended to not scrape episodes with Kodi and allow Mezzmo and the addon to manage your library content. This will greatly simplify and standardize operations across all of your Kodi clients.
Mezzmo has the ability to Live stream URLs including OTA streams. You simply check the Live Stream box when adding streams to your Mezzmo library. Once they are in your Mezzmo library they will be immediately available to the Mezzmo Kodi Addon when you browse their library location. In this example direct links to OTA tuners of specific channels have been added to Mezzmo. So for live viewing of a TV stream you don't leave to leave the addon and use the PVR live viewing function.
