UPnP Server Support

In addition to tight integration with Mezzmo media servers the Mezzmo Kodi addon has generic UPnP/DLNA support for other UPnP servers. If you have multiple UPnP/DLNA sources on your network you can now leverage one Kodi addon for accessing them, which is superior to the Generic UPnP support in Kodi. The Kodi Mezzmo Addon will attempt to leverage HTTP vs. UPnP connectivity for superior performance when streaming content. When enabled in settings the addon will first discover all UPnP/DLNA servers on your network. You can use the Mezzmo Kodi addon with your current UPnP server even if you don't have a Mezzmo server. Beginning with versions 1.1.9.4 / 2.1.9.4 discovery of UPnP/DLNA servers can be disabled by enabling Only Discover Mezzmo Servers in the Timers & Servers addon settings.
Once all have been discovered the Mezzmo Kodi addon will display all UPnP servers it has found. In addition it will try and maximize the experience based upon what metadata the UPnP server provides. Mezzmo, by far, will have the broadest set of metadata. In addition things like background sync and such will only work with a Mezzmo server. However, displaying of videos, music and pictures will work, if supported by the UPnP server. In addition the picture slideshow feature is available.

Note 1 - Plex provides good metadata and artwork. Actor / actress artwork will display when browsing Plex actor / actress playlists like By Starring Actor or By Starring Director. However actor / actress artwork will not be displayed when viewing a video information panel when positioned on a video. This is because those information panels leverage Kodi video database queries and syncing to Kodi's video database is only currently supported with Mezzmo servers.
