Setting Options

If WPP runs directly on the Wsus Server (Recommended), it will detect the Wsus role and, therefore, add the local server to the servers list.

Wsus Role Detected

Go to "Tools" -> "Settings…" (or press CTRL+S) to open the settings window.

Go to Settings

  • The Drop Down list allow you to manage more than one Wsus Server. Choose the server you want to display/modify settings.
  • Server Name : Put here the name of the Wsus Server you want to add. You can't change the name of an already registred server. Instead, register a new server, then remove the old one.
  • Connect to local server : This option should always be tick when WPP runs on the Wsus Server.
  • Connection Port : Port on which Wpp should try to connect to the Wsus server (This option is only available when the option "Connect to local server" is not used).
  • Use SSL : Used with option "Connect Port"
  • Ignore Code-Signing Certificate validation errors : Every package you publish are signed by the Wsus Server. WPP will try to validate the certificate used, but sometime there is false negative. If you receive error messages about certificate and knowing for sure your certificate is ok, try this option.
  • Ignore Console and Server version mismatch : When WPP runs on a client computer, and not on the Wsus Server, the Wsus console version must match the server version to allow publication. Microsoft has really mess with Wsus and console version since Windows 10 (this is why it is recommanded to run WPP on the Wsus Server). You can try to run WPP on a client computer with RSAT (includes Wsus Console), but no promises :-).
