About the DQC Rules Plugin

The DQC ruleset .zip files are compiled checks written in an XBRL rule syntax called Xule. The checks are invoked using an Arelle plugin on a local computer or server. After Arelle processes an XBRL instance, a taxonomy or an extension taxonomy, the DQC plugin determines the proper compiled assertions to use (ruleset) and returns validation messages to note issues.

Three new rules and an Investment Schedule Guidance FAQ for US GAAP taxonomy filers were available for public comment from July 15 through August 31, 2022. On September 21, 2022, the Data Quality Committee Approved these rules and the FAQ for use and set an effective date of filings after November 30, 2022.

DQC_0139 - Bank Ratios - Scale Issues - This rule resolves the issue where the capital adequacy ratios are reported with an incorrect scale. It also ensures that filers have used the appropriate elements to report their capital adequacy ratios.

DQC_0140 - Investment Schedule Cross Calc - This rule is intended to identify those cases where the company has misused elements in the investment schedule showing the difference in amortized cost and fair value. The rule checks that the investment schedule that shows the difference between amortized cost and fair value is calculated correctly.

DQC_0141 - Inconsistent Accrued Interest Elements - The rule ensures that the correct elements are used in the investment schedule. Specifically it ensures that consistent elements are used for including and excluding accrued interest elements in the investment disclosure.

About the DQC Rules Plugin

The DQC rules are run using an Arelle plugin written in an XBRL rule syntax called Xule. Xule is processed in a plugin for the SEC's EDGAR Renderer/Previewer - Arelle on a local computer or server. The DQC plugin reads a specified ruleset and the assertions defined in the ruleset are evaluated against an XBRL instance, a taxonomy or an extension taxonomy, creating validation messages.
