What do we need from CostCo? #327
Comments
It'd be handy at some point (particularly to help others know when to reopen this) if we defined useful "minimum stock level" for things. We're currently down to the last crate of all of the drinks, so need to think about getting more now before they actually run out. We have run out of bin bags and crisps. So in particular need to get some more bin bags (heavy duty ones, not the thin ones we had most recently that disintegrate once you try pulling them out of the bin. |
The most recent bin bags were the supposedly “large” ones from Home Bargain, they did also have “strong” so could give them a go while we wait for a CostCo trip.

Bin bags are tricky to gauge levels of but besides this I'd say that if we are on our last box/crate/pallet of anything then it's time for a trip. |
40 toilet rolls is £12.58 |
The Nicky stuff from Home Bargains is cheaper then, and decent quality.
Happy to be told otherwise if anyone disagrees, however.

No that sounds fine and is much easier to get hold of!

We're very low on stocks so we really need someone to make a trip, I won't be here for a while so it'll need to be someone else. |
Been to Costco today, but had a couple of issues. First, Coke was pricey - we would actually lose 34p per case. I got one so that we have some, but it's worth having a chat about. There was no 7 Up or Sprite. I purposefully didn't get handwash, as it worked out at 1.50 a bottle, and is cheaper than that in Home Bargain. Still, we've got tea and Fanta... |
Ah, sugar tax. I’d say we have to up the price of coke.

I have bought the 5L bottles of Carex handwash from Costco in the past and it works out quite a bit cheaper than the packs of bottles. It is also a bit more environmently friendly to reuse the existing bottles rather than recycling the old ones. Might be worth checking on the next Costco run. |
On the evening of Thursday 15th August, the small drinks fridge only had a few cans of (full fat) Coke in it and 1 can of Fanta. |
I bought 3 boxes of Coke Zero a week ago. It’s quite possible Matt has drank them all but are there definitely not some down the side of the fridge?

I put all the remaining Coke Zero cans (from the box underneath) into the small drinks fridge; I could not see any more Coke Zero in the Kitchen area so have un-ticked "Coke Zero" in the first post.
I also put 8 cans of (full fat) Coke into the Fridge. This left around 12 cans in the box immediately under the small fridge.

@Jackie1050 @johnmckerrell Apologies - I must have been looking straight through / past the extra Coke Zero boxes. . . I have (re)ticked “Coke Zero” on the list at the top. Out of interest, going forwards, would there be any objections to me providing some cans of Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi? Sent with GitHawk |
Reopening this mostly triggered by the 5L handwash getting low, but I think I've updated the checkboxes usefully... |
Drinks, crisps? Is it worth getting bogroll?

More bin bags would be good, if they have the right type |
Should items be ☑️ when we need them or 🔲? Basically we need everything on the list at the moment, although 5L handwash and kitchen roll were the specific items that brought me here 😁 |
Is this thread just about consumables, or are any kitchen contents fair game? I ask because we seem to be really low on forks, spoons, teaspoons, and soup/cereal bowls. Wonder whether we could get half a dozen of each, cheap, from Costco? Or whether it means a trip to Ikea? |
I think the recurring list is for consumables, but I suspect other one-offs that can be bought from Costco would be okay. I don't visit Costco though, so I'll defer to others as to whether we can acquire such items there. If not, then spinning up a new issue for cutlery, etc. would seem a good idea. |
I've brought in 3 soup bowls |
I probably will go to Costco at some point in the next week so I'll take a look but I feel like crockery and cutlery will be better from Ikea. |
Items should be unchecked when they need to be bought, by the way. |
Broken the Ikea supplies into #1891 |
@johnmckerrell will be going to CostCo soon, what do we need?
Dishwasher tablets - Probably a 2pack x1This ticket will be re-opened when a CostCo trip is imminent, edit and reorder the list above, anything unchecked needs to be bought.
Numbers above are approximate target stock levels so if it says 3x above and we have 2 in the kitchen when you do the trip, obviously just get 1 more to top up.
If you have to get an alternative just try to get something sensible and make sure the resultant cost is less than we sell for!
