Wordpress to PDF

This is a tiny tool to turn your wordpress xml export into a printable PDF.

Getting the export

There is a guide by wordpress.com that shows you step by step how to export the necessary xml file: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

Running the script

First you have to install all dependencies with:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Now you can run the script with:

python3 wordpress_to_pdf.py path/to/wordpress.xml path/to/out.pdf

To see all available options (like headline color or font) run:

python3 wordpress_to_pdf.py --help

Server

This projects also includes a tiny web-app based on flask. To run it, first start the celery worker:

PYTHONPATH=. celery -A server.tasks worker

This assumes that both redis and rabbitmq run on localhost in the standard configuration.

Then start the server itself:

PYTHONPATH=. FLASK_APP=server/app.py flask run

Notes

• Currently videos are not supported. But you can place an image into the script's folder that will be used instead. For a video like [wpvideo AbcdEFG] name the image file AbcdEFG.jpg.
