Just a minor post-launch bugfix release. Thank you to everyone who has played so far and left feedback! The kind words and constructive criticism have been equally appreciated.

  • Fixed firing the wrong token placement event when searching the palace ballroom after visiting the palace last.
  • Updated the Warehouse prologue text to emphasise the player's mission at that location.
  • Shortened the Dock prologue text to fix a minor text overflow.

I finally stopped letting perfect be the enemy of good! I'm so exited to finally to release my scenario into the wild, only a full 3 years after I started working on it! Below is a final changelog from v0.95 to now, but I recommend not reading it if you are planning to play the scenario.

  • Increased the required info for the counter-ritual
    • You must now also identify the invading god's associated colour and aspect.
    • Getting the name and one other attribute correct is required to successfully banish.
    • Getting at least one attribute correct is required for the old bad (but beatable) ending.
    • There is a new bad (unbeatable) ending for getting no attributes correct.
  • Reduced the randomness of the house hostages. Now there will be a fixed number of bad outcomes, based on a scale determined by what order you visited the house in.
  • Removed all references to associated colours from the keys in the docks, since there was no punishment for using a key to open a door to a room with the wrong box in it, and players were missing content because of it.
  • Added a roaming monster to the docks to make it a hair less boring.

Updated Scenario with expansion support and custom soundtrack

  • Added Mark J. Hadley's soundtrack from the video game. Now plays unique title tracks for cutscenes, background music for the locations, and battle music on monster spawn. One track has been reserved for those who make the ultimate mistake...
  • Updated item drops across the board to randomly select from pools of base and expansion items where logical
  • Curated the starting item pools to make sure that any situationally overpowered or useless items from all of the expansions were excluded
  • Updated monster spawns across the board to randomly select from pools of base and expansion monsters where logical
  • Removed the "cult leader" custom monster, replacing it with a regular cultist, allowing the Priest of Dagon model to be reserved for the mission finale
  • Reduced the health pools of the "Priest of " custom monsters as they didn't match the standards set by FFG's numbers
  • Updated The Horror's Hive to use the Formless Spawn from Horrific Journeys as a base monster if the player has the expansion (still falls back to Child of Dagon otherwise)
  • Updated all monster spawns in the warehouse (including from The Horror's Hive) so they always spawn a monster at random from the same pool of base and expansion monsters
  • The house man hostage now has 3 unique negative outcomes that will always use an expansion monster for spawning if possible (falling back to cultist if not)
  • Added a new monster spawn at the palace that triggers if you decide to go there first, because you deserve to suffer for your poor decision making
  • Replaced the free Carbine Rifle in the house with the .45 Automatic, as it was simply making the mission too easy previously
  • Removed women token from the start of the dock (as funny as it was to make the player hunt out a token just to immediately remove it in the next prompt)
  • Overhauled mythos calculation again. Now tracks location visited count as a separate variable, allowing the mythos levels to be configured independently of in-game location visit order effects
  • Mythos now starts with both flavour and minor events, as players would end up spending roughly 1/3 of the mission with nothing interesting happening during mythos
  • When ramping up mythos events, the mission will now saddle between categories rather that jumping straight between them
  • The palace will always ramp up mythos to it's max level on load. No more free passes for going there early
  • Removed last instances of using multiple events to simulate or conditionals (yay!)

Upgrade to Valkyrie 2.5.6 with many bugfixes and minor changes

  • Upgraded to Valkyrie 2.5.6
  • Rebalanced scenario so difficulty ramps up for every new location visited, rather than at fixed time points.
  • Restored the left alignment of cutscene text using new rich text option (many thanks to Valkyrie contributors!)
  • Used new vertical text alignment option to align the cutscene text to the top of the text area, removing the need for the newline spam at end of text.
  • Changed all cutscene images to use embedded images, as new official app versions break the cutscene images.
  • Swapped non-transparent images from PNG to JPG to cut down on file-size.
  • Fixed bug in palace where exploring the ballroom, then revealing the attic from the lounge trapdoor, would leave behind an explore token between the attic and ballroom.
  • Removed entity references to deep one and hunting horror spawners from horrific hive movement activation, as they would only substitute correctly if at least one monster had spawned from them.
  • Numerous minor spelling and grammatical corrections to event text.
  • Removed one instance of using multiple events to simulate an OR condition. Many still left :(
  • Fixed mistyped entity reference in house for master bedroom deep one spawner.
  • Updated scenario icon to pay better homage to the video game's art style.

Just a minor update this time to fix some text bugs.

  • Fixed the spawn names of some monsters incorrectly referencing different spawn components, which no longer works on the newest version of Valkyrie
  • Removed the pseudo left alignment of the text in all of the cutscenes. As cool as it looked when it worked, the majority of the time it broke due to resolution changes looking worse than centre alignment.

After a quick playtesting session I was able to identify some major flaws in the scenarios balance which I have tried to correct with this update.

  • Redefined an "Hour" to be three full turns instead of two. This should actually give you enough time to visit and sufficiently explore all three locations.
  • Universally reduced the success rolls required to pass search tokens, as they were too high before. I also converted some roll tests to instant searches as the scenario contained too many roll tests previously.
  • Removed the .45 and the Wrack spell from the starting item pool, as absolutely fun as it was to play a mind-broken Agatha Crane Thanos snapping every monster she encountered out of existence.
  • Changed the difficulty and duration numbers to match actual scenario duration and difficulty.
