Becoming a reviewer

If you are a new member of a review team but you don't have permission to review gates yet, email us at webstatus-request@google.com.

Checking your pending review requests

Each review request generates an email notification to each member of the appropriate review team. So, your email inbox is the first place to check for reviews that require your response. Review notification emails have the subject line "Review Request for feature: …".

Each email contains a link that takes you directly to the feature details and the gate that needs to be reviewed. image

Another way to check for pending reviews is to sign in with your reviewer account and visit the "My features" page at https://chromestatus.com/myfeatures. That page consists of several boxes that show lists of features. When you are signed in with an account that has permission to review features, the top box will show features pending your review. Each listed feature shows all gate chips for any stage that is in progress. A red clock icon indicates that the review is overdue.

Click a feature name to learn more about the feature and enter your review on the feature detail page. Or, if you are already familiar with the feature, click a gate chip that has your team name to open the gate column for your review. image

Responding to review requests

Once you have visited the feature detail page to learn more about the proposed feature, it is time for you to enter your review response.

Steps:

  1. Be sure that you are signed in with your account that has permission to do reviews.

  2. Visit the feature's detail page, expand the appropriate stage, and click the gate chip for your team. Or, click a gate chip on the "My features" page. Either method will open the gate column.

  3. To respond by setting a review value: select a value from the menu and press the "Save" button that appears. image

  4. To respond with a comment to the feature owners, type your message in the comment box and press "Post". image

For API Owners, there is an additional checkbox allowing the reviewer to also post to the intent thread.

After you enter your review value or comment, it will appear in the log for that review, and a notification email will be sent to the feature participants and other reviewers.
