Dealing Face Down Cards

George Taray edited this page Nov 20, 2022 · 2 revisions

The GM is able to deal cards to players face down. A card dealt face down remains hidden even in the player's hand. By default the only way to reveal a face down card in a hand is for the GM to flip it, or for the player to play it (by double-clicking or via radial menu).

By default cards are dealt face up, but if you hold the face-down hotkey while dealing the card (either by drag/drop or via radial menu), the card will remain face down in the recipient's hand. The hotkey does not work with the quick buttons in the Deckbox.

Flipping Cards Face Up

By default the only way for a player to flip a card face up is by playing it (either by double-click or by radial menu). There is a game option to enable a radial option for players for flipping cards face up while in their hand.

Flipping cards in hand

The GM has the option of flipping a card in a player's hand as well.

Peeking at Cards

The GM can always peek at cards in a player's hand. By default players cannot peek, but there is a game option to allow them to. Peeking opens up a new window with the face up card in it.

Deck Settings

There is a deck setting to control whether cards are dealt face up for face down by default. If 'face down' is selected, then all cards will be dealt face down (even if dealt from the Deckbox quick buttons)

Game Options

There are two game options to control whether players have access to flipping or peeking at cards. There is also a game option to control whether the GM peeking at facedown cards sends a message to chat.
