VPNs and proxies

If you need to use a VPN or proxy in order to access a website in your web browser, you'll need to do the same with HDoujin Downloader as well.

VPNs and proxies come in both free and paid options, with paid services usually being more reliable.

Using a VPN

You might already be using a VPN in the form of a browser extension or standalone application. If you are using a browser extension, you'll need to install a separate VPN to use with HDoujin Downloader.

Any VPN will work with HDoujin Downloader provided that it proxies traffic coming from all applications on your computer and not just your web browser. Some VPNs are configured to only proxy web browser traffic by default (e.g. Psiphon), while others proxy all web traffic by default and do not require additional configuration (e.g. Hotspot Shield or CyberGhost).

Using a proxy

HDoujin Downloader currently supports HTTP and HTTPS proxies, which can be configured under Settings > Proxy.

You can easily find free proxies by searching "proxy port" in your favorite search engine. If the proxy requires a username and password, you can enter these into HDoujin Downloader. Otherwise, leave these fields blank.

Be careful when using free proxies, as free proxy servers often have a lot of downtime. If the proxy server is not responding while the proxy is enabled, HDoujin Downloader will be unable to access the internet.
