Edited your original post to make the formatting a little more readable FYI. |
FYI, there's a gdal-20 formula in the osgeo tap |
Closing this until that's done and then will reopen. |
Sorry for the long delay. The problem is still unsolved. Please find the Gist log here: Thanks for reopening this issue! |

Dear Mike, I've already tried this but the problem remained the same. I have removed all folders containing the config files listed by brew doctor from the path. Also '/usr/local/sbin' was added to the path. The keg 'suite-sparse421' is intentionally unlinked, since a newer version of suite-sparse (4.5.3) is installed. The unbrewed headers from 'usr/local/include/ublio.h' refer to the Fuse installation (non-homebrew installation) but are installed since ever and are not considered to produce trouble. Also the sha256 warnings from the keckcaves tap should not relate to the described build-failure. Here you find the new Gist with the potential brew doctor warnings fixed: Thanks! |
Seems to be failing to find |
Thanks for helping. How do you get to the libxml issue? ld: warning: directory not found for option '-L/usr/local/Cellar/gdal/1.11.5_1/lib' I reinstalled 'libxml2', which is keg only by default (due to another system libxml). I checked before and libxml2 should have already been installed. The build-error is now slightly different and the 'config.log' file (Gist) now shows the following warnings: ld: warning: directory not found for option '-L/usr/local/Cellar/gdal/1.11.5_1/lib' There is no .../gdal/1.11.5_1 folder since this is the version I just try to install. There is also no 'lib64' folder in the lib dap/3.18.1 directory, just a 'lib' folder. Please find the new Gist here: |

Have opened a PR for this in Homebrew/brew#1510. |
Seems like gdal2 formula in osgeo4mac has been updated OSGeo/homebrew-osgeo4mac/issues/172. Just tried a new build and it works. gdal build still fails though. |
Hi, The fix I added to |
Understood, for now I'm just glad gdal2 is compiling. |
I have followed the pre-reqs prior to posting (see below). I am having the same issue. I had 'brew install gdal' working just fine until I ran 'brew upgrade'. I then had all sorts of issues with my dynamic libs, and hdf4 support. After a 'brew uninstall gdal' i have been completely unable to get a successful gdal with hdf4 support up and running. Since then i have done a complete uninstall of everything Homebrew '/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/uninstall)"'. And have then started from scratch:
the result of gdal install (#4) is I did manage to get both gdal (1) and gdal2 compiled but not with hdf4 support (which i need). Does anyone have any solutions or workarounds for GDAL with hdf4 support? System: OSX 10.11.6 Pre-reqs for posting: |
Closing as there's no work ongoing on this issue, sorry. |
Dears,
Since a while I have a problem with building gdal after version 1.11.3_1. All newer gdal-version, currently version 1.11.5, do not build anymore. I try and need to use the same options as before. Until version 1.11.3_1 updating and installing worked fine so I still have to stick with this version.
Hope somebody can help.
Thanks!
When trying to upgrade, 'brew upgrade' brakes with the following error-message:
