The ITÁLICA research group focuses on Natural Language Processing, particularly in social network analysis, opinion mining, and the detection of disinformation phenomena in texts. They use machine learning and data mining techniques on non-textual data. They have developed systems to identify opinions in texts and characterize entities using a taxonomy that facilitates the aggregation of results for reports, adapting to new domains at low cost, which benefits technological transfer. In social network analysis, they have created algorithms to assess the relevance and reputation of users, and to detect spam, resulting in publications on various topics such as data mining and natural language processing
