We're gonna close this PR. The API is still a roadmap issue and we will continue to work on this but we have decided to move this temporarily to a seperate repo. This way we can safely develop in a alpha environment and move at a faster pace. When we are ready with the development of our API implementation, we will make this publicly available. |

This is a new and improved version/combination of the first attempt #1358 and another API implementations that was submitted by @Numkil and @delboy1978uk. Still needs some work and @sandergo90 is going to pick this up.
