GadiBhada

‘GadiBhada’ is a digitised version of the local bus tracking and fare calculation system in Kathmandu Valley. It allows one to find an appropriate route to travel and calculate the approximate fare for local buses from any location in the valley.

Objectives

The basic objectives of developing this piece of software is summarized in following bullet points.

  • To save passenger the hassle to identify his/her bus stop while travelling
  • To help passenger find nearest bus stop in his/her route of commute from any location
  • To find the shortest bus route of one’s commute
  • To discourage the bus conductors from taking the fare more than what is set by the government
  • To properly implement the Government-issued fare list in the public buses
  • To save time and hassle for both, the passengers and the bus representative calculate money in the bus itself

Database: PostgreSQL, Neo4j

API: Mapbox

Features

  • Very good aesthetics and intuitive user interface.
  • Users can find available routes directly or find appropriate route based on source location and destination location.
  • Bus owners can add/ update/ delete new/ old bus stops and bus routes
  • Users can see and update their profile from the user profile interference itself.
  • Directive instruction is given to the users so that they know which bus stop to reach, which bus route to take, and where to go after reaching the near bus stop to the destination.
  • Approximate bus fare is calculated based on the length of commute bus route.
