Requirements

  • Is this a feature request? For questions or discussions use https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support
  • Did you check to see if this issue already exists?
  • Is this only a feature request? Do not put multiple feature requests in one issue.
  • Is this a backend issue? Use the lemmy-ui repo for UI / frontend issues.

Is your proposal related to a problem?

People often complain about bot posts clogging up their feed (of course they could just disable the option to see bots, but they still complain...)

Describe the solution you'd like.

Bots should not be able to vote on posts, which includes the initial upvote they give themselves when they post. If you browse Lemmit then you see many posts with 1 point, they would instead have 0 points until a real user votes

Describe alternatives you've considered.

Users already have the power to hide all bots or ban specific bots, they still complain though. I'm not sure if any bot has a good use case for voting, maybe it could be an option for the instance admin, but that's probably not necessary.
