If we really want this to be in the resource itself, the $res has to be defined as a hidden property.

I'd rather recommend to resolve the promise of the request with two objects. first the resource and as the second parameter the whole response.

@hadrienl: In the Alpha Version 2.0 this functionality is built in using resource.$response().
