TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not callable

When I run the program below:

I am using Visual Studio Code Version: 1.88.1 on a Raspberry Pi 5 with Bookworm OS 64 bit. With the Python extension v2024.4.1. The Pi is connected with USB to an Arduino Uno kloon with Telemetrix4Arduino firmware

What causes this error and how can I fix it?

Thanks for reporting this. I corrected a bug in Telemetrix4Arduino. Version 5.4.0 should be available in a day or two from the Arduino library manager.
