Windows start menu folder obsolete? #3778
Comments
Not possible to do - spent a lot of time looking at it. It's how the Squirrel installer is done. You wouldn't believe the amount of research I had to do, down to Squirrel's source code, just to call it "Mudlet PTB" in that folder... and it's all hardcoded to use a folder. |
Fair enough. Then it's a rare use of the "won't fix" label here. |
Thanks for linking! I guess this was part of your research back then and didn't seem like a feasible solution for us? |
Indeed. One thing I don't want to fork is Squirrel - an unmaintained C# application. |
Brief summary of issue / Description of requested feature:
Was there actually any reason to add a Mudlet folder in Windows start menu?
Steps to reproduce the issue / Reasons for adding feature:
Image is older, folder is currently actually named "Mudlet makers" (which I wanted to adjust originally)
Does not show Mudlet PTB as well, which would reside right below the Mudlet application.
But you can see how Mudlet uses a sub-folder, while few of the other applications do:
Error output / Expected result of feature
Both Mudlet and Mudlet PTB should reside at start menu top level.
Therefore, players have no extra clicks to interact with sub-folders.
Extra information, such as Mudlet version, operating system and ideas for how to solve / implement:
Need to investigate, if this was done deliberately, or oversight / missing configuration somewhere.
