Thanks Russ! Note: I still have to update checkout.sh and Externals.cfg with the final WAFS tag and change the GSI checkout back to the release branch when ready. I am testing downstream/verification pieces today and will commit needed changes based on feedback from component managers. |

OK. I won't reply with "Approve" until all workflow changes are in place. NOAA-EMC GSI PR #39 has been approved and will be merged into release/gfsda.v16.0.0 when this workflow PR is merged into feature/gfsv16b. |

WCOSS outages this week will delay implementing these changes in the real-time parallel. Plan is to allow real-time parallel to catch back up to real-time over the weekend and early next week ahead of a prod switch next Tuesday. Will set up and test system on Venus this week and plan to move to new structure when the parallel moves to Venus post-prod switch. Will resync global-workflow and GSI PR branches again before the end. |

Updated the algorithm used to compute CAPE and CIN in UPP. The computation
is now bounded from the surface up to 1 hPa instead of the model top to
avoid producing erroneous large CAPE and CIN values.

Modify each ecflow script with old j-job name for test.
Modify the following in each definition file.
- ecen family require new extern from previous cycle
- Job jgfs_atmos_npoess_pgrb2_0p5deg trigger changed to be (requested
from code manager):
1. jgfs_atmos_post_manager:release_post180
- Job jgdas_enkf_select_obs trigger changed to be:
1. previous cycle enkf post complete
2. current cycle jgdas_atmos_analysis_calc complete (new job)
Tested as of 9/21/2020 before production switch with following condition:
1. Known issue in wafs gcip. Job failed. Waiting for code manager to
fix.
2. obsproc testing still on going.
3. Code manager still updating j-job and ex-script names. Testing in
hold until package is ready and WCOSS availability.

In anticipation of UFS world, restructure workflow and scripts to use new $COMPONENT subfolder under $cyc COMROT/ROTDIR folder (e.g. gdas.$PDY/$cyc/$COMPONENT). Component variable will be either "atmos" or "wave" in this initial implementation. Jobs/scripts that use multiple components will set multiple $COMPONENT variables (e.g. $COMPONENTatmos and $COMPONENTwave). Additional components (ocean, ice, etc.) will come in future.

Branch: feature/gfsv16-restructure
Tested on Mars, able to reproduce GFSv16 real-time parallel (v16rt2). Component updates coming and documented in issue.
PR initiated for review while subcomponent pieces get into place. Will submit when ready.
