Installing SimplyE on old iOS devices

Background

For any app on the App Store, it is possible to install it on devices that run a version of iOS that is older than the minimum that the app requires. There are however a few requirements:

  • The app MUST have supported at some point the iOS version of the device you're installing it on. There's no way around this.
  • You must have had installed the app beforehand. You can circumvent this easily by simply installing it on a newer device that does support the minimum app version, and then go about installing it on the old device.

SimplyE

Currently SimplyE supports iOS 9.3 or later. It's unclear at time of this writing what was the oldest iOS version that SimplyE ever supported, but let's say it's iOS 8 (*).

Trying to install SimplyE on anything lower than iOS 8 (*) will not work. Period.

If you have an iOS device running a version of iOS greater than 8 (*) but lower than 9.3:

  1. if you never ever installed SimplyE on your App Store account, first install it on a device running iOS 9.3 or newer; THEN,
  2. you're good to go, proceed to install it on the older device. The App Store app will let you install the maximum version of SimplyE that your device's OS can support.

(*) This is just an hypothesis. I do NOT know what is the minimum iOS version that SimplyE ever supported.
