Reference GDD
Reference GDD for original Neotokyo's mechanics
Explanation of all Neotokyo game mechanics.
A reference point when doing gameplay changes.
Tactical, team oriented First Person Shooter.
Round based single flag capture (Capture the Ghost) with team elimination as alternative win condition. No respawns.
Players join two teams (Jinrai & NSF), and pick from three classes (recon, assault, support), each with their own abilities and loadouts.
Players may also join spectator team to observe the match.
Players gain points (XP) for completing objectives (kills, round wins, ghost captures). This XP unlocks more weapon loadouts.
Players lose -1 XP for suicide and team killing.
Once a team reaches the round point limit (default 7), the map ends in their victory. Game proceeds to the next map.
For each round, one ghost spawns at a randomly selected spawn point from one or more possible locations. Bringing the ghost inside the bounds of the team's capture zone grants a round win.
Winning by capturing the ghost gives each living player in the team 1 rank-up regardless of score. Dead players in the team receive +1 XP.
Eliminating the entire enemy team within the time limit grants a round win.
Winning by eliminating the other team gives each player in the team +1 XP.
If the round time runs out, the team with most people alive wins the round.
In case of a tie, neither team wins nor receives any extra points.
Each player holds a rank depending on their gained XP during the map. The rank determines which weapon loadouts are available to the player. Players do not lose their XP for their weapon selections. However, the rank resets back to Corporal (0 XP) on new map start.
Weapon loadouts are unlocked as follows:
XP: | Rank: | Explanation: |
---|---|---|
-1 | Rankless dog | Lowest tier. Penalty for suicide/tk. |
0 | Private | Starting tier. |
4 | Corporal | First rank-up. |
10 | Sergeant | Second rank-up. |
20 | Lieutenant | Highest tier. |
